Huntington Beach-based folk band Matt Kollar and the Angry Mob are changing face. They are pumping up their live show. And here's a fun fact for you, Matt Kollar and the Angry Mob were the first band to play live on my radio show. This was early last year during the OC Music Awards showcases. The band's new EP named "She Changes Face" is the band's second body of work since September 2008 when they released their full-length album "Farewell Adventure!" Expect refreshing sounds by an accordion, trumpet, harmonica and many other instruments that make up a fun and diverse six-song EP. The southern-folk inspired song like "A Driftin Blues" we can hear the darling vocals of Elizabeth Messick and her voice takes us back in time. This whole EP spotlights Messick's beautiful voice, which adds a delicate touch to the songs. If you want to dance, then "409 Blues" will get you shaking and stomping. If you're in a more soft-spoken, romantic state-of-mind then "Carry The Light" will set the mood. "Gotta Get Blue" surprises you with harmonies, distorted voices, and fizzles and pops of all different kinds of sounds, while "To The Night!" exemplifies the accordion. Then there is "She Changes Face," which the record was named after, and this song will stay on the brain. You'll be singing the chorus right after listening to the song once. The EP will have you making all sorts of faces...happy, love sick, surprised, excited, etc. "She Changes Face" will be released this Friday, March 5 at the Best Buy in Westminster at 5 p.m (Best Buy is an Awards sponsor).
